Complete Instructions for Using a Dual-Chamber Pen
Assembling the Pen
Take the dual-chamber cartridge containing the medication and insert it correctly into one part of the pen. Ensure the end designed for the needle is positioned at the bottom in the narrowing section of the mechanism. Take the other part of the pen and screw the two halves together firmly until securely connected.Attaching the Needle
Remove all protective caps from a new, unused pen needle. Screw the needle tightly onto the pen.Mixing (Reconstitution)
Hold the fully assembled pen with the needle pointing straight up. Turn the mixing mechanism and continue rotating it all the way until it stops and you hear clear clicking sounds. This action fully pushes the liquid into the powder chamber so the two components mix completely. Gently roll or tilt the pen (do not shake vigorously) to help the powder dissolve. Wait until the solution is fully clear (or uniformly cloudy, as specified) and no particles remain. Check through the viewing window to confirm.Priming (Removing Air)
Dial 1–2 units on the dose selector. Hold the pen with the needle pointing upward and gently tap the cartridge holder so any air bubbles rise to the top. Press the injection button fully. Repeat the 1–2 unit priming steps if necessary until a small drop of liquid appears at the needle tip. This confirms that all air has been removed and the pen is ready for use.Setting the Dose and Injecting
Dial your prescribed dose so it appears clearly in the dose window. Clean the chosen subcutaneous injection site with an alcohol swab and allow it to dry completely. Pinch a fold of skin if needed, then insert the needle straight into the skin at a 90-degree angle. Press the injection button down slowly and firmly until it stops and the dose window shows “0”. Keep the button fully pressed and slowly count to 10 before withdrawing the needle. This ensures the complete dose is delivered.
